Is pi random?
http://pi.nersc.gov/
"In 1996, NERSC Chief Technologist David H. Bailey, together
with Canadian mathematicians Peter Borwein and Simon Plouffe, found
a new formula for pi. This formula permits one to calculate the
n-th binary or hexadecimal digits of pi, without having to
calculate any of the preceding n-1 digits. This formula was
discovered by a computer, using Bailey's implementation of
Ferguson's PSLQ algorithm. More recently (2001), Bailey and
colleague Richard Crandall of Reed College have shown that the
existence of this new formula has significant implications for the
age-old question: Are the digits of pi random?" On this site
you can test the theories by doing a hexadeximal or character
search of pi.

CPUCOOL,
http://www.podien.onlinehome.de/CPUCOOL.HTM
is uncrippled shareware and costs only $13 to register. Although
its ability to change the Front Side Bus may make it appear to
be only for speed freaks, it's really much, much more.
It has a forced cooling function that can drop CPU temp 25 C on
a consistent basis. It offers a graphic display of CPU activity.
It also monitors your hard drive's health; lets you change the system
bus speed; optimize memory; optimize the CPU instruction set; shutdown
the PC with a single key combination, monitor temperature, fan speed,
voltages for many motherboards; and (of course) cools the CPU itself.
Every read out can be configured to the user's needs.

Microsoft Word 2002 has always driven people crazy with its convoluted
jump-though-the-hoop way of getting to your templates when you perform a
simple File, New. Once you get to the File New dialog box it defaults to
Large Icon view and there is no registry setting to make the Detail view sticky.
You can change it in the dialog box but it goes back to Large Icons.
Someone came up with this code.
Sub DetailViewFileNew()
SendKeys "{TAB 5}{RIGHT 2}"
Dialogs(wdDialogFileNew).Show
End Sub
Create a macro in Normal.dot and drop this code in it and add it to your toolbar
for a Detail view File New dialog box one stop button.

A quick way to remove the user information from Win 9x?

Delete the previous user's PWL (Password Lists) file. Empty your
Recycle Bin and then reboot, and that will remove the previous
user's login information.

Windows XP Professional
Every time you log on it says your password will expire (and do
you want to change it?
Somehow your maximum password age has been changed. Open the Control
Panel, and then Administrative Tools. Now you need to double-click

on Password Policy. See "Maximum password age," click to set your
maximum password age. You can have a password that never expires.
To do this, right-click My Computer and choose "Manage." Then expand

Xi-WARP W9x/2k/XP FREE
 http://xiberpix.homestead.com/index.html
Distorted animations Do you ever wonder how some Web sites get
some of their cool “warped” graphics and wish you could have the
same thing for your Web site?
With this application, you can create your own bent and distorted
graphics, animate the morphing process, have a sentence on
your web site turn into a spiral and back, or make an animated
logo. I recommend following the step-by-step guide at first.

Swiff Player W9x/2k/XP FREE

Flash player; it gets the job done and it does it better than
Flash Player. Swiff Player has support for hardware acceleration,
3D effects, and OpenGL. This allows you to not only view your
Flash movie full-screen, but you can view that same movie as a 3D
cube. With Swiff Player, you can even view the properties of your
Flash movies, such as the dimensions, frame rate, number of
frames, and more. The full-screen mode was enough to make me
download this application, and how about the fact that you can watch
that full-screen Flash movie at 60 frames per second?

 http://vobsub.edensrising.com/shellext/shellext.html
{Create hard links}
Some programs don't like shortcuts. It seems to be a
diminishing characteristic in newer programs, but there is still
the occasional application that won't work unless you access the
program file directly. With CHLExt you can get around this problem
by making a "hard link" to the file. A hard link is like a
shortcut, but it's NTFS-based, so as far as the troublesome
program is concerned, it thinks that this hard-linked file is the
same as the original.

don't need to know a ton about Smalltalk to customize and
